Pepper Steak and Rice

This is the Klicpera family famous Pepper Steak and Rice recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb pepper steak

  • 3 green peppers, cut into strips

  • 1 large yellow onion, cut into strips

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp garlic salt

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • soy souce (to color???????)

  • 3 c. & 1/2 c. hot water

Directions

  • First make a sauce by mixing 2 tbsp cornstarch, 1 tbsp garlic salt, 1 tbsp sugar, 3 cups of water, and soy sauce (to color, please update this). Place to side for now.

  • Brown pepper steak in electric skillet.

  • Temporarily remove the pepper steak from the electric skillet.

  • Place peppers & onions into skillet with 1/2 cup of water, cover and steam until soft.

  • When the veggies are soft, mix in the pepper steak and poor sauce over the steak and veggies; replace lid.

  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer until thick (few minutes).

  • Serve over rice.
